JANUARYS NOTES FROM THE CHAIRMAN
Happy New Year!
Here's hoping that you had a great holiday complete with family and friends, good food, and fun. And that Santa was extra good to you!
The 1st Annual Tree Lighting and Fun with Santa event last month was a huge success. It received great coverage by the press. The kids had a blast playing games, talking with Santa, and eating lots of cookies. They were amazed at the magic in Santa when he lit the outdoor tree by just waving his hands and arms. Thanks to all who participated in the event and a special thanks to those who volunteered and help make it possible.
2012 will provide challenges for the One Mountain Foundation. OMF has already been notified of reduced sponsorship which means reduced funding support, which potentially translates into reduced number of OMF events and activities. OMF will continue to be as generous as possible in support of the needs of our community non-profits.
OMF does not have any events scheduled for this month. But please consider coming to the OMF Events Committee meeting on Monday, the 9th of January, 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Ritchie Community Center in Cascade, MD. Give the committee your ideas for future events and activities. Then be a part of planning those events and activities. It is through these activities that we raise funds to provide our funding support to the community.
The OMF Board of Directors will meet on Monday the 23rd of January, 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Ritchie Community Center. Everyone is welcome to attend; the meeting is open to the public. Click here for the agenda.
A member raffle was not held in December due to the holidays. OMF will hold one at our January meeting. To be eligible, one only needs to be a member of record as of the meeting date. Suggest to your friends and neighbors that they should join OMF. They will receive an OMF 2012 Collector's Edition calendar when they join.
I hope that 2012 is a much better year for each one of us personally, and especially for our community collectively. I believe that through the One Mountain Foundation, as a community organization, we can make a difference in our community if we work together with that goal in mind. 2012 is OMF's 10th Anniversary. OMF has accomplished a lot over the past 10 years (as summarized on the 'About OMF' page). And is poised to continue to do so for many years. The 'About OMF' page also contains the names of the new OMF Board of Directors and 2012 Officers.
For those who have not renewed their membership, please consider doing so; for those who have renewed, thank you. I hope to see you at our meetings and activities. Bill Carter
