MAY'S NOTES FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Will It Snow Again?!

Hope all is well with our membership and you won't be seeing snow again until the Fall!  Now if we can stop the frost at night.........

Our membership ranks are slowing growing.  Please continue to encourage your friends to join us.  Remember that to be eligible for the monthly raffle, one needs to be a 2012 member.  The winner for the April raffle is Ginny Parks, who won two tickets to The Sons of the American Legion Post 239 Meat Draw Down Bonanza to be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Cascade American Legion.  The SAL is holding this Bonanza to benefit One Mountain Foundation's 7th Annual Mountaintop Heritage Days scheduled for June 30 – July 1.  The next drawing will be held at our May Board of Director's Meeting.

The Spring Dinner Theater was a success.  Attendance was  a little light, but those who came really enjoyed the comedy.  Laughter filled the room throughout the performance.  And the dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings was outstanding, as always.  The next dinner theater will be held in late September/early October.  The date is not firm at this time.  Please come out and enjoy a grand evening.

The OMF Events Committee will meet on Monday, May 14th to continue to prepare for the 7th Annual Mountaintop Heritage Days.  Come and get involved in the planning of future events and activities.  It is through these activities that we raise funds to provide our support to the community.  Then the OMF Board of Directors will meet on Monday May 21th at 7:00 p.m. at the Fort Ritchie Community Center.  The meeting is being held one-week early due to Memorial Day.  Everyone is welcome to attend; both meetings are open to the public.

Spaces are still available for Craft, Business, and Non-Profit Organizations to apply for a space at the 7th Annual Mountain Heritage Days scheduled for June 30 and July 1.  Applications can be found on the '2012 Events' tab on the web site.  I've included a current copy of the flyer for your information.  A special thanks goes out to the PenMar Development Corporation, Specialty Granules Incorporated, Sons of the American Legion Post 230, and McLaughlin's Heating Oils and L.P. Gas for their pledges of financial support for Mountaintop Heritage Days.

Thanks to all who contributed recipes to our upcoming Mountain Heritage Cooking Collection Cookbook.  It should be ready for purchase at Mountaintop Heritage Days at the OMF Information Tables.

I hope to see you at our meetings and activities.  We will be needing lots of volunteers for Mountaintop Heritage Days.  Please consider lending a hand and your time.  Thanks.  Bill Carter
