ABOUT THE ONE MOUNTAIN FOUNDATION

OMF ACCOMPLISHMENTS SINCE ITS FOUNDING IN 2002 INCLUDE:

• Mountaintop Heritage Days – OMF has conducted this two-day regional event since 2006 in Blue Ridge Summit and in Cascade on the former Fort Ritchie Army post.  The event includes live entertainment, a parade, craft and food vendors, children's games, living history symposiums,   car show, fireworks, a community worship service, boating on Lake Royer, and other fun activities. Local non-profit organizations have benefitted over the years by collectively netting over $45,000 from this event.

• Fund-raisers - OMF sponsored events and/or accepted tax deductible donations for for community organizations such as “Help Hotline” (community food bank) and the Cascade Elementary School PTA for replacement of the school's playground equipment.

• Fort Ritchie Community Center – OMF represented Mountaintop residents in the establishing the need for a fitness and recreational center resulting in the 2008 opening.

• Civil War Trails Markers - OMF, working with community and historical organizations, arranged for the erection of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and State of Maryland Civil War Trails Markers in Blue Ridge Summit, PA and Pen Mar Park, MD to commemorate the July 1863 Battle of Monterey Pass.

• Bi-Annual Dinner Theaters - Since 2008, OMF, in conjunction with the Blue Ridge Theater Guild, has conducted spring and fall dinner theater for the community's enjoyment.

• Historical Preservation - OMF conducted "Thunder on the Mountain"  Civil War historical seminar; "Understanding the East German Soldier   of the Cold War" living history symposium; "Memories of Pen Mar"  which included memorabilia collector's displays, live music, and  premier of Historical Entertainment's film The Grand Hotels of the     Blue Ridge; and sponsored the production of Historical Entertainment's film on The Battle of Monterey Pass.
