Barefoot in the Park is another Neil Simon hit comedy that The New York Times called "A bubbling, rib-tickling comedy" and the New York Daily News said that "Critic weeps joyfully...I don't think anybody stopped laughing while the curtain was up."  This is the third season of having the Blue Ridge Theater Guild back home on the Cascade/Blue Ridge Summit mountaintop.  The Guild is a talented and award winning local theater production company with this production directed by Cathy Snesrud of Hagerstown, MD.

The fall dinner theater is an important event for the One Mountain Foundation.  The Blue Ridge Fire and Rescue Squad donate the use of the building and Alice and her committee, with the help of the Blue Ridge Garden Club, turn the fire hall into a beautiful theater for the weekend.  It's a fun filled evening with proceeds going to fund future One Mountain Foundation community focused activities and advance expenses for the 6th Annual Mountaintop Heritage Days to be held June 25th and 26th, 2011in Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania and Cascade, Maryland.

October 9, 2010  - Living History Symposium - " Understanding

the East German Soldier of the Cold War"

The One Mountain Foundation (OMF) will be conducting a living history symposium entitled "Understanding the East German Soldier of the Cold War" at Fort Ritchie in Cascade, Maryland on October 9, 2010 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  The event will allow participants to better understand what life was like for the average East German soldier during the Cold War by interacting with Mr. John A. Miller, a Living Historian.  The event will be held across from the Fort Ritchie Castle on Barrick Avenue.

Mr. Miller,  using museum quality reproductions, will show attendees items consisting of uniforms and accouterments.  Attendees will be able to learn what East German soldiers from the post World War II era would have worn, carried, and used on a daily basis.  A camp will be set up to better envision field living quarters. This event is educational in providing details on East German soldier's life during the post World War II era.

Mr. Miller, Chairman of the Heritage Development Committee and a One Mountain Foundation Board Member said:  "To better understand our future, we need to understand our past.  The East German Army was considered to be one of the best Warsaw Pact militaries in the world aside from Russia.  Conscripts, women and children all had their place in the Communist state, which we will discuss during the event.  Many East German soldiers and civilians fled to West Germany in order to seek freedom.  This program will give participants an understanding of the Cold War era and what it was like to be on the opposing side."
